The construction of the Parks cabin began in about 1951.  It was built by my “Uncle” Noble Wolfe, his father, Fauncher Wolfe and his son-in-law Lowell Harms.  For the full story in the words of Uncle Noble, press the history button at the top.   I started coming up to the cabin when I was about five years old .  I love it just as much now as I did back then, 37 years ago.  I find it very relaxing to get away from the “city”.  Even though I have made many modern additions such as a bathroom w/shower, a dishwasher and even a washer/dryer, I still enjoy it as a rustic get away.  One of my favorite things to do in northern Michigan is to lean back in a lawn chair and star gaze. Without the lights of the city you can see millions of stars.  It is never a disappointment.

We have had many family trips in past. With a nice size lake, the back waters of the Hodenpyle Dam, down at the end of the block and a country store at the corner, it is my ideal vacation. I keep a small tri-hull boat which we use to ride across the lake to a nice sandy area where the kids swim and explore. Every now and then I try my hand at fishing.  A couple years ago I purchased a couple wave runners to play with on the lake.  I only hope my kids learn to enjoy it as much.
